Hi Everyone,
This is an invitation to compete at Villanova University’s Second Annual BEELTEBOTS Competition. This is a competition similar to BattleBots, as seen on television, except the weight limit is drastically reduced with a few different rules. Last year was very successful with the 2lb. robots and Drexel University winning the competition.
With some brainstorming, feedback from last year’s competitors, and additional funds being raised, this year’s competition will be much bigger! The 4ft. X 4ft. arena will be replaced by an 8ft. X 8ft. arena with guaranteed hazards (to be determined). The weight restriction will also be increased from a maximum weight of 2lbs. to 3lbs. for increased weapon capacity and more Bot to Battle!
This is a competition for all engineering students. A precise 3lb. fighting robot with the dynamics and frame work created from scratch could be a senior design project while the addition of a powerful weapon to an already existing BattleBot RC robot (which can be found online and are highly recommended to keep the costs down) could be a freshman team interested in robotics. The channels must be able to be switched, and most of these toys can run on multiple toy channels. This is so that any two robots can fight each other.
Spread the competition invitation to friends because the more competitors, the more fun this will be. Please email me if you are interested in forming a team for our competition or if you would like more information. The arena should be constructed by mid to late January and everyone will know by then what hazards they have to work with. The competition will be on MARCH 27, 2004 and the cutoff for submitting a team will be the end of January. There will be prizes for the teams that place. Below is a website that will be updated about the competition.
Good Luck,
Rich Donovan
